Precision mechanical constructions: the production departments

NR Covis is one of the largest and best-equipped production sites in Europe for medium and large mechanical constructions. The company is able to offer a 360° service, starting from the study and development of a client’s project, fabrications, precision mechanical constructions, heat treatments, sandblasting, coating and packaging.

NR Covis provides its customers with the following services:

• Fabrication: this department is equipped with overhead cranes with a lifting capacity of up to 200 tons, modern equipment for automatic and manual welding (submerged arc welding, TIG, MIG, etc.), plasma cutting systems for the preparation of sheet metals up to 300 mm thick, calenders and mechanical manipulators of various sizes and capacities.
• Mechanical processing: the machining department, equipped with overhead cranes with a capacity of up to 300 tons is specialised in turning, milling, drilling, boring and grinding of medium and large parts.
• Assembly: NR Covis has an area of 2,000 square meters and is equipped with overhead cranes with a capacity up to 100 tons.
• Coating and packaging: NR Covis is equipped with a sandblasting tunnel and a controlled coating booth. In the packing department operators create special crates suitable for sea or land transport that are made according to the customer’s requirements, designed and optimized by our technical department.

Mechanical engineering constructions: quality control

The quality of mechanical constructions is one of the main values that guide NR Covis. The company has a quality control department with a third-level non-destructive testing operators qualified according to UNI EN ISO 9712:2012 for the following methods:

• Visual Inspection – VT
• Magnetic Particle Control – MT
• Liquid Penetrant Control – PT
• Ultrasonic Control – UT

In addition to third-level technicians specializing in precision mechanical construction, the company has technicians qualified to perform dimensional inspections with traditional instrumentation (calipers, micrometers, etc.) and laser equipment.

Mechanical construction workshops: the certifications

To guarantee the quality of the mechanical components made by NR Covis, the company is ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 3834-2:2006 certified. Recently, in addition to the certifications listed above, NR Covis obtained the new ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certifications.

ISO 14001:2015 certification

The ISO 14001:2015 certification is the most widely used regulatory benchmark for companies and organizations with an Environmental Management Systems. According to the regulations, the Environmental Management System is the division aimed at managing the company’s environmental aspects, meeting legislative compliance obligations and assessing risks and opportunities. The application of ISO 14001:2015 defines the most important requirements to identify, control and monitor the environmental aspects of each organization with an environmental policy.
